Last Quarter's Activities

BAPS Family Picnic

On Saturday, April 19th, BAPS members, families and friends had a day of fun celebrating Burmese Thingyan at the National Semiconductors Park. More than 30 people showed up for this picnic. The weather was perfect and the food was great! Everyone enjoyed the delicious food and the activities such as volleyball and baseball. This event gave our members and friends a chance to become reacquainted as well as to make new friends. Our thanks to Norman Louie and Keven Hui for reserving the picnic area. We also would like to thank everyone who came to the Picnic.

BAPS Fund Raiser

On May 3rd, BAPS had a fund raising activity at Burmese New Year celebration at Westmoor High School. Edison Paw, Michael Yin, Eugene and Maymar volunteered to sell soft drinks and shushi. They stayed from 6 to 9 PM and raised a good amount of money. We would like to thank them for their time and effort. Thanks also to everyone who bought soft drinks and shushi to support our organization.

San Francisco Bay-to-Breaker

BAPS participated in the Bay-to-Breakers on Sunday, May 18. We joined the thousands of other participants near the starting line at Howard-Fremont Street in the financial district of San Francisco. As a group, we walked all the way to finish line at the Great Highway for the full 7.25 miles, and had lunch together afterwards in San Francisco. We had a lot of fun and had a good workout. Thanks to all participants, and special thanks to Michael Yin for organizing the event.

Manteca Waterslides and Picnic

The trip to Manteca Waterslides on June 14th was a tremendous success and it was a great encouragement for BAPS to prepare for the next event. More than 70 members, families and friends participated in this event. Most of them arrived at the Oakwood park in Manteca around 9:00AM and started enjoying the waterslides. We had a lot of fun at the various waterslides like Flash Flood, Rampage, Rapids Rides and Jet Scream, and V-Max, California's tallest speedslide. None of us dared to try the Bungee Tower Jamp but we still had a blast. It was a great day to be out there since the weather was perfect and the lines for the ride were surprisingly short. We all had a great day full of fun, laughter and thrills, and many of us had the rides of our lives. Everyone brought variety of delicious food for lunch and enjoyed sharing with others. Our thanks go to Roger Sha and Edison Paw for organizing the event, to Michael Yin for reserving the picnic area, and to all the BAPS officers for their time and effort in organizing the Picnic. We also would like to thank everyone who participated.

Finally, for those of you who participated in past events, BAPS would like to hear your feedback. This will be a big help in planning our next events or picnic.
